Russian Supermodel Sasha Pivovarova

Sasha Pivovarova (Russian: Александра Пивоварова, born January 21, 1985) is a Russian supermodel and artist. Born in Moscow, Russia, Pivovarova was one of those girls who never dreamed of becoming a model. By a chance meeting, she began modeling after friend and now husband, Igor Vishnyakov, introduced her to modeling agency IMG. He took photos of her and knew then, that she was something special. Before she took off, she was studying art history at Russian University for the Humanities. Her first show was Prada, and soon she went on to do the Fall 2005 campaign for the brand.

Pivovarova has been compared to Australian supermodel Gemma Ward. She is close friends with fellow models Vlada Roslyakova and Snejana Onopka. Pivovarova has modeled for such brands such as Chanel, Valentino, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

More recently, Pivovarova has become the face of Prada. She has made "fashion history" by being the face of Prada for 5 consecutive seasons (first model ever). She appeared in the Fall 2005, Spring 2006, Fall 2006, Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 campaign.

In the May 2007 issue of American Vogue she was featured on the cover with fellow models Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Jessica Stam, Agyness Deyn, Coco Rocha, Hilary Rhoda, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson as the new crop of supermodels. In her interview, she talked about her love for art and reading. Her current project was reading the book War and Peace. Recently, in August and September of 2007, she was on another two covers of Vogue. Russian Vogue and British Vogue, back to back.

When asked what her favorite part of the job is, she said the photo shoots and traveling. She told CNN in an interview, that she gets to meet people and see places that she would never be able to meet or see, if it had not been for modeling.
